DP World considers establishing dry port near Cairo, expanding investments in Egypt
DP World Group is considering the establishment of a dry port near Cairo that includes a logistic area, according to a statement released on Sunday. It is also considering the establishment of other ports around Egypt to benefit from its geographic location. Minister of Industry and Trade Tarek Kabil said in the statement that a delegation of the group will visit Egypt soon to hold talks about possible investments. The group wants to invest in developing the infrastructure of Egyptian ports and establishing free zones around the country. October witnesses a 22 % Increase in Cargo Handling in Port of Damietta
214 vessels were received in Port of Damietta during last October compared to 190 ships the same month of last year recording a 13 percent uptick in ship traffic as indicated by Port of Damietta authority's Information Center Monthly Report . In the same context, cargo handling and container handling achieved a nice increase of 22 percent  and 19 percent respectively in October 2016 compared to same period the previous  year. Generally, the ten months of the year 2016 (January-October) have shown a remarkable bloom in ship and cargo traffic in Damietta compared to the corresponding period of 2015.Same tempo of increase is expected to continue till end of the year.  to view the Report click Here Source: DPA Staff More....

China Harbor signs MOU On New CT with Damietta Port
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed yesterday 9th of October 2016 between Port of Damietta Authority and China Harbor for the setup of Damietta Port's 2nd Container Terminal.  The new terminal is planned to comprise berths totaling 2225 meters with 17 meters depth and stacking space of 700 000 m2.Project implementation period is 24 months. In parallel to project execution, Port of Damietta Authority will be launching an international tender to select  a highly qualified International CT operator.  The Chinese Bank is scheduled to finance 85 percent of project cost, while Port of Damietta Authority will have complete ownership of the terminal.  Feasibility studies conducted in this regard confirm market and economic effectiveness of the new terminal which will greatly enhance… More....

DP World London Gateway Adds New Shipping Service
CMA CGM’s North European Mediterranean Oceania (NEMO) and Hapag Lloyd’s Europe, Australia Express (EAX) combined service will begin calling at DP World London Gateway Port in early January 2017, with CMA CGM’s Rossini as the first to call on the service. In addition to four port calls at cities in Australia, the service will provide the port with more direct links between Singapore, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Malta and Italy. 30% of Hanjin ships unloaded
About one third of the container ships operated by near-bankrupt Hanjin Shipping Co. have completed their cargo unloading at ports around the globe as of Sunday, the troubled shipper said Monday, with 34 container ships still stranded at sea. Of the 97 container ships operated by the financially shaky shipper, 28 have unloaded goods. Hanjin Shipping said it is also in negotiations to begin unloading in New York, Singapore and Mexico next week. Hanjin Shipping is also set to return a total of 17 ships to their owners in the coming weeks as they plan to end leasing contracts. CMA CGM increases Asia-Red Sea rate by US$500/TEU from September 8
FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM will levy a US$500 per TEU rate increase on all Asian cargo - except on shipments from Japan - to Red Sea ports starting September 8. The increase, which the company describes as part of a Rate Restoration Programme, will cover the ports of Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Ain Sokhna (Egypt), Aqaba (Jordan), Djibouti, Port Sudan (Sudan), Aden and Hodeidah (Yemen).
