Damietta, Egypt (PortSEurope) February 11, 2018 – EU Ambassador to Egypt Ivan Surkoš and the EU’s First Secretary of the Trade and Enterprise division Klara Kanks have visited Damietta Port to explore potential cooperation and discussed the planned construction of a new container terminal at the port and logistical services available for oil tankers, among other projects open for investment.Major General Saleh, chairman of the Damietta Port Authority, and the delegation reviewed investment opportunities and future projects available at the port, including the construction of a second terminal for container handling, which is currently studying the means of financing, as well as the proposed area to be allocated for the export of Damietta products for furniture and logistic services provided by the port to oil vessels serving the newly discovered gas fields.Saleh pointed to the recent boom in performance indicators, whether in the volume of cargo handled or in the number of vessels dealing with the port, as well as obtaining several certificates in quality and prizes of the best commercial port in the management of the mechanism and the highest rates of general cargo and conformity with the environment.The delegation then went to visit the Segas station to liquefy and export natural gas at the port.
