Damietta Port receives the EBRD delegation

As per directives of Lieutenant-General Kamel Al-Wazir. Minister of Transport, R. Admiral / Ahmed Abdel-Moati Hawash, DPA Chairman, received a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD to follow up key national projects currently underway in Damietta. Rear Admiral, Tarek Adly, DPA Deputy Chairman for Operation, and Brig. Engineer Ahmed Othman, Deputy Chairman for Planning and Investment and DPA key officials attended the meeting.

This visit aimed to discuss aspects of DPA-EBRD mutual cooperation regarding the project of the second container terminal “Tahya Misr 1” and understand the latest developments of the project.

The meeting began with a port presentation highlighting key features, main terminals, significant developments and current and future projects, the most important of which are the container terminal, Tahya Misr 1, the eastern breakwater, the western breakwater. Some projects were also highlighted as Investment opportunities such as: the set up of a new grain terminal near Eastern breakwater with berths totaling 600 m and a pack yard of 270000 m2, and the overall scheme to upgrade the site adjacent to W. breakwater to establish a new multipurpose terminal.

The delegation also visited DPA’s Operations Center to see the methods used in surveillance and security control of all port facilities and then went to Tahya Misr container project site to see how far construction is progressing and listened to a technical report on work development by project supervisors.
