Damietta Port receives two of the latest container cranes in the world

Damietta port received today the vessel Calypso, carrying  two German Liebherr type  mobile cranes. The newly arrived cranes will operate  on berths 5 and 6 by the container terminal during the rehabilitation of main terminal berths currently in process .

Liebherr mobile cranes are  120 tons capacity and weighs 380 tons each. Liebherr, the German manufacturer of cranes, is one of the largest manufacturers of equipment and cranes in the world.

In this context, Rear Admiral / Ayman Saleh, Damietta Port Authority (DPA)  Chairman, explained that DPA does not spare any effort to provide all facilities to the Damietta Container Terminal during the rehabilitation of its key berths including berthing priority for containers ships.

DPA met with the shipping agents to enlighten them on such procedures  to ensure everything is going well in the terminal.

This is the maiden voyage by Calypso to a port in Egypt.   the German  shipping line (SAL) owns the vessel  and usually  ships cranes  from the German port of Rostock to Damietta port.
