
Damietta Port Authority (DPA) participated in the Arab-Chinese Forum on recent trends of artificial intelligence applications in transportation, logistics and cybersecurity.
The forum was held at the Smart Village of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), in coordination with the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence, under the auspices of the Minister of Transport, Lieutenant-General Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, who heads the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Transport Ministers.
DPA was represented by Rear Admiral / Ahmed Abdel Moati Hawash, DPA Chairman.
The forum began with a number of opening speeches by key attendees and participants. Rear Admiral / Reda Ismail, Head of Maritime transport Sector delivered a speech on behalf of Minister of Transport.
During the forum, AASTMT signed an agreement for scientific cooperation with Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence. Attendees reviewed a number of the most significant Chinese experiences in areas related to high-tech artificial intelligence, smart logistics systems, and new generations of cybersecurity. Arab participants also shared their views and experiences on the forum content.
DPA Chairman hinted that Damietta Port pioneered in this context. DPA has applied artificial intelligence to manage Just In Time (JIT) system and implemented full automation of operations at Damietta Container Terminal. Hawash stressed that cooperation is under way with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to implement 5G services at the port, in addition to the procedures taken to ensure safe handling and recording of information and data in accordance with cybersecurity applications.
