DPA Chairman visits LNG complex
Rear Admiral / Ahmed Abdel-Moety Hawash, DPA Chairman, undertook an inspection visit to LNG terminal of the SEGAS company in Damietta port. DPA Chairman was accompanied by Rear Admiral / Tarek Adly, DPA deputy Chairman for Operation, Eng. / Ahmed Othman DPA deputy Chairman for Planning and Investment and a number of the Authority’s leaders.
They were received by the company’s CEO, who gave a presentation on the terminal, its operations and its various facilities, they then took a tour and visited the manufacturing and operating sites of the terminal.
DPA Chairman stated that restoring the reception of LNG tankers after a hiatus of about 8 years is a major step that strengthens Egypt’s position as a regional energy center in the Middle East. In the first quarter of last year, the terminal has received 74 gas vessels since the resumption of operations.
He added that the port had recently acquired 4 tugboats with a tensile strength of 60 tons each to join DPA’s fleet of marine services units manned with highly qualified national crews for dealing with the modern generations of giant ships and liquefied gas tankers after work resumed in the terminal, which is one of the largest gas liquefaction terminals in the Middle East.
He also stressed that coordination is going on between DPA and Damietta Gas Liquefaction Company (SEGAS) to ensure regular and improved operations of the terminal.
