DPA Prominent Show up in Hamburg Maritime Forum 2023, Germany

Damietta Port Authority (DPA (participated in the activities of the 2nd Hamburg Maritime Forum 2023, which took place in the German city of Hamburg from 18-19 April.

Rear Admiral / Ahmed Hawash, DPA Chairman, represented Damietta port in the activities of the forum, accompanied by Brigadier / Yasser Al-Sabban, Head of the Central Administration for Traffic and Zones in DPA.

Hawash joined the main discussion panels on the latest updates and trends in the maritime transport industry worldwide. Discussions dealt with a number of important topics, such as the need for cleaner fuels for greener future to accelerate the transition to a sustainable maritime transportation sector, focusing on establishing eco- friendly projects in ports, relying on information technology, digitization, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity to develop ports and the maritime transport industry.

Ensuring the security and safety of seafarers was among the key topics handled and how to achieve their well-being. the most prominent expectations for the maritime transport industry during the next ten years were surveyed and how to use innovations to achieve environmental sustainability.

DPA Chairman visited the exhibition held on the fringe of the forum to get acquainted with the related maritime services and innovations on show. He also visited the headquarters of Hapag-Lloyd, one of the largest shipping lines, and Eurogate, one of the partners of the winning consortium to operate the Tahya Misr 1 container terminal in Damietta port.

Taking part in 2nd Hamburg Maritime Forum comes in accordance with the directives of Lieutenant-General Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport for ports to exchange experience with international partners and update knowledge in the maritime transport industry, so as to spur development and modernization of Egyptian ports.

Hamburg Maritime Forum is one of the most important global maritime events  which brings together a cluster of prominent maritime industry decision makers and experts from various segments including shipowners; ship operators; ship builders; ship yards; ports; service providers; manufacturers, technology companies and government bodies, associations; and others to discuss ways to develop the maritime transport industry worldwide.
