DPA ‘s symposium:” Improving the Competitiveness of Egyptian Seaports”

 Damietta Port Authority (DPA) held a symposium entitled “Improving the competitiveness of Egyptian seaports”, jointly with the Institute of Maritime Postgraduate Studies.

Rear Admiral/ Ahmed Abdel Muti Hawash, DPA Chairman headed the symposium which witnessed the presence of Rear Admiral Tarek Adly, DPA deputy Chairman for Operation, Brig. Engineer / Ahmed Othman, DPA deputy Chairman for Planning and Investment, Prof. Dr. Sameh Farahat, Assistant Dean of the Maritime Graduate Studies Institute for Education Affairs and key cadres at the Institute.  Representatives of shipping agencies, companies, the shipping community and public figures were also attending.

The Symposium addressed issues of a presentation on Damietta port terminals, ongoing and future projects, and promising investment opportunities.

Prof.Dr. Khaled Salem head of marketing unit at the institute talked about competitive advantages available as a result of port merging and significant chances and challenges facing ports of Egypt due to horizontal integration.

Rear Admiral / Ahmed Hawash confirmed that the Ministry of Transport is extremely interested to upgrading maritime transport industry and related activities, in the light of the State’s orientation towards becoming a global trade and logistics center at regional, African and global levels.
