Singapore eyes collaboration with Damietta Port in sea transport

Damietta Port Authority (DPA) received Dominic Goh, the ambassador of Singapore to Egypt and his accompanying high-level delegation.

Rear Admiral / Tarek Adly, DPA deputy Chairman for Operation welcomed the ambassador and conveyed greetings of DPA Chairman who is outside the country to participate in the World Maritime Day Parallel Event (WMDPE), held in Durban, South Africa, at the invitation of the IMO Secretary-General.

Brig. Engineer Ahmed Othman, Deputy Chairman for Planning and Investment and a number of DPA leaders attended the meeting which began with a presentation on Damietta Port, its various terminals, the competitive advantages it enjoys, and the national projects underway, which include the new container terminal, (Tahya Misr 1), and the eastern & western breakwaters.

The visit included a field tour different port facilities which raised Ambassador Dominic Goh and the Singaporean delegation’s admiration for the good organization, projects and promising investment opportunities. Ambassador Goh stressed his aspiration to develop cooperation in various fields of maritime transport between Damietta Port and Singapore PSA.

This visit comes within the framework of the directives of Lieutenant-General, Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir – Minister of Transport, to present investment opportunities in maritime transport to the Singaporean side, which has strong experiences in this field, and to enhance aspects of joint cooperation based on the distinguished relations between the two countries.
