
Rear Admiral / Ahmed Hawash, DPA Chairman, received a delegation of the consortium (Hapag-Lloyd, Eurogate and Contship Italia) that won the operation of the new container terminal (Tahya Misr 1) during their visit to the port. Brig. Engineer Ahmed Othman, DPA Deputy Chairman for Planning and Investment and senior DPA officials attended the reception.
A number of points were discussed with respect to the presentation of the project’s superstructure plans, the evaluation of the environmental and social impact to ensure that the ongoing construction works comply with international environmental requirements.
The delegation made a site visit to see how far construction is going as planned and praised the remarkable progress and support provided by DPA, since this project is one of the most significant national projects being established in Damietta port.
Hawash confirmed that DPA is supporting the project in accordance with the directives of Lieutenant-General Kamel Al-Wazir. Minister of Transport within an ambitious plan to convert Damietta Port into a pivotal port for transit trade in the region.
