Damietta Port Authority (DPA) will host the next meeting of MED Ports Association’s Committee of “Relations with International Institutions” on March 20, 2019.
The meeting is expected to discuss the signing of MOUs with a number of international institutions, like the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), and the association’s international strategy.
MEDPorts was constituted in June 2018 with its main objectives to promote the collaboration between Mediterranean ports to face the new challenges of international trade and logistics, as well as to highlight the centrality and importance of the Mediterranean in the new world trade flows.
An advantage of the organisation is that it is formed by port authorities and not by countries, which allows to endow it with a purely technical policy to favour the development of ports and transport corridors with Mediterranean impact.
The main lines of work of the association are the promotion of cooperation between the ports of the Mediterranean, taking advantage, among others, of the opportunities offered by the so-called New Silk Road.
Damietta Port Authority (DPA) is one of the founding member of the MEDPorts Association which includes 20 European and Arab ports on the Mediterranean Sea.
