E-JUST in Damietta Port
A teaching staff delegation of the Egypt Japan University of Science and Technology (E-Just) in Egypt has visited Damietta Port to exchange views over potential academic cooperation. DPA is especially interested in introducing Japanese academic expertise in fields of maritime transport, logistic activities, as well as engineering and info technology. DPA Chairman R.Admiral Waled Awad talked with E-JUST delegation over basic areas of cooperation such as IT, Logistics ,environment preservation and HR training. The delegation was amazed to know about the strict adoption by DPA of environment standards inside port facilities particularly after DPA compliance with ISO 14001 for environment and obtention of certificate of conformity with ISO 45001 for vocational health and safety. DPA Hosts JICA Delegation
Damietta Port Authority (DPA) has received Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delegation to discuss possible aspects of cooperation between the two sides in light of Egypt's sustainable development vision 2030 particularly in different fields of transport. DPA Chairman R. Admiral Waled Awad, said the meeting began with a port presentation highlighting key features, main terminals, significant developments and both current and future projects. The delegation also visited Operations Center to realize how advanced the methods used in surveillance and security control of all port facilities. The Damietta LNG plant is (finally) back online after eight years of being idled
with two liquefied natural gas shipments making their way out of the Damietta Port yesterday, marking a key step towards our ambitions to become an energy hub and boost natural gas exports to Europe. An LNG carrier from the Marshall Islands is transporting 60000 tons of LNG from Egypt to Bangladesh, is about 276 m. length, 45 m. width, and has a draft of 14 m. equivalent to 158,000 cubic meters, bound for Bangladesh. A separate trial shipment is also being loaded onto a carrier owned by energy and commodities trader Vitol, and will make its way to Europe. DPA Gets Certificate of Conformity with ISO from LR
DPA has obtained the certificate of conformity with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Standards (ISO 45001: 2018) as premiere Egyptian commercial sea port to obtain this certificate after passing all necessary tests by Lloyds Register. Last week, Lloyd’s Register, one of the largest specialized international supervisory and quality certificates granting bodies, dispatched a committee to check, review and test DPA work procedures and mechanisms. The committee's report highlighted DPA's quick response to emergency situations and high commitment to health and safety standards. Accordingly, DPA has been awarded conformity certificate with (ISO 45001:2018) for health and safety, while other certificates related for ISO, environment and health and Safety (ISO 9001:2015 and ISO  14001:2015 have been renewed.
