The Philippines AMB discusses cooperation with Damietta Port
Admiral / Walid Awad, DPA Chairman, received a Filipino delegation headed by the Philippine Ambassador to Egypt, Ezz El-din Tago, during his visit to the port to discuss aspects of cooperation between the two sides. The meeting was attended by DPA deputy and key officials. DPA chairman welcomed the ambassador and the accompanying delegation and gave him a presentation of the port, its various terminals, on-going and future projects and available investment opportunities. AMADI Tanker received in Damietta Port
DPA Chairman, Rear Admiral / Walid Awad, announced that Damietta Port has received the Brunei-flagged LNG tanker (AMADI), which is 288 meters long, 44 meters wide and is scheduled to load about 64,000 tons of liquefied gas bound for Pakistan. This consignment to be transported by AMADI is the shipment number (23) since the resumption of work at Damietta Port's gas liquefaction terminal after about 8 years of operation stoppage at the terminal which is one of the largest gas liquefaction terminals in the Middle East. DPA Chairman followed up the process of AMADI's entry and berthing on the gas liquefaction terminal using DPA tugboats. Wheat consignment shipped to Imbaba Silos via Damietta Port’s River transport.
As part of the continued efforts to activate and maximize the use of fluvial transport of goods via the Nile, DPA Chairman, Rear Admiral / Walid Awad stated that 10 river barges belonging to the National Nile Company for River Transport left the port of Damietta with 3000 tons of wheat, something like the weight of 60 road trucks, from the silos of Damietta port to the Imbaba silo across the Nile River. On Monday, July 12, 2021, Damietta Port Authority and Port Training Institute have signed an institutional agreement with Damietta Port Community for cooperation under the YEP MED Project, co-financed by the European Neighborhood Instrument (ENI) of the European Union. The MoU has been signed by Rear Admiral/ Waleed Mostafa Awad – DPA Chairman with a number of 12 partners, from all port-related sectors; Terminal Operation, Stevedoring & Warehousing, Inland Transportation, Shipping Agency, Customs Clearance in addition to academic education and dual training.
