Owing to bad and cold weather in the area associated with kasim Nawa in the past few days, the  guides and tugs leaders of Damietta port authority managed to execute 106 ships' movements to and from the port' berths during the past week despite the wind speed about 36 knots.  Where most ports in the area locked bogaz and stopped the navigation traffic due to bad weather, but in Damietta port there was no vessels in the outside waiting area. Damietta Port receives two of the latest container cranes in the world
Damietta port received today the vessel Calypso, carrying  two German Liebherr type  mobile cranes. The newly arrived cranes will operate  on berths 5 and 6 by the container terminal during the rehabilitation of main terminal berths currently in process . Liebherr mobile cranes are  120 tons capacity and weighs 380 tons each. Liebherr, the German manufacturer of cranes, is one of the largest manufacturers of equipment and cranes in the world. Arzana at Damietta Port for a new round of dredging
Arzana one of the latest dredgers globally has arrived port of Damietta to start periodical dredging of the port's navigational passage up to 16 meters as per Damietta's navigational declaration. This falls within port of Damietta Authority's annual plan to ensure save navigable depths. Noteworthy that Arzana is one of the most sophisticated dredgers in the world today. The Hopper-type 109 m long,25 m wide dredger was built in the Dutch IHC docks and conducted initial survey earlier this year at North Sea. Arzana's draft is 7,3 m with 6000m3 capacity basin and overall tonnage of 7708 tons. the dredger is expected to remove sedimentations up to 1.8 million m3 over the coming 4 months. More....

DPA Chairman Heads Egyptian Ports ‘s Delegation to Germany
The delegation of Egyptian ports headed by Rear Admiral / Ayman Saleh, Chairman of Damietta Port Authority, while in Germany ,made a visit to Smiths Detection for vehicle & individual detection equipment manufacturing . All contracting members attended a technical survey of the work mechanism of the vehicle detection platforms  which are currently being supplied to Damietta, Nuweibaa and Safaga Ports.  Rear Admiral /Saleh explained that the type of platforms which will be used for the first time in the Egyptian ports will provide complete radiological safe  for drivers during the detection process, while ensures the most accurate detection  of all parts of incoming  vehicles. Damietta Port Authority on their continuous effort to apply international standards of digitizing services will implement with immediate effect the Single Comprehensive Invoice System (SCIS) which will reflect all services provided to the vessel’s call at Damietta Port and will include port dues, payable to all third parties’ competent authorities: Maritime Transport sector, Egyptian Authority for Maritime Safety, Port Police, Quarantine and Customs. DPA Deputy Chairman also visited the Hamburg-based  shipping line Hapag Lloyd which commended the port authority on starting the deepening of the container terminal berths . DPA buttresses DCHC in Dredging Process
Within the framework of ongoing coordination between Damietta Port Authority (DPA)and Damietta Container and Cargo Handling Company (DCHC),and  according to the terminal's  development plan to reach the market share projected ratio among the Mediterranean ports, DCHC is currently undertaking an ambitious project to reinforce and deepen its berths to reach a depth of 17 m, to accommodate  giant container ships . The project which is scheduled for 22 months, will be implemented in three stages starting 10/10/2018 . In light of the general directives  to re-operate gas liquefaction plants and in the framework of continuous cooperation between Damietta Port Authority(DPA) and the Spanish Egyptian Gas Company (SEGAS), the Authority discussed with a delegation of the company means to resume work at Seagas plant inside port of Damietta. Egypt stopped the import of gas as a result of the discovery of new gas fields such as "Zohr field " causing work to discontinue at Seagas Plant. Continuing to activate the role of river transport to and from Damietta port for different governorates of Egypt,. Damietta Port received the floating unit Wataniya 124, " belonging to the National Company for River Transport, which unloaded a 113 tons turbine shaft destined to Damietta power station shipped from Helwan. The General Silos and Storage Company shipped about 220 tons of wheat on the same unit to the Imbaba silos.
