DPA Chairman received The Dredger “Obour Port Said”
In completion of Damietta Port's plan to maintain the16 meter depths of the navigational channel and the turning basin and to ensure suitability for the safe arrival and departure of big draft ships, Rear Admiral Walid Awad, DPA Chairman, has received "Obour Port Said" the dredger introduced to start staged dredging the navigational passage to remove dredged materials and keep depth at required levels. Awad also followed during his cruise the ongoing projects and loading / unloading operations at the port's various berths.  More....

For the first time in Egyptian ports, electro-powered cranes are in use in Damietta.
In line with the Egyptian maritime transport strategy to raise the international classification of national sea ports as environment friendly green ports, DPA Chairman, Rear Admiral. Walid Awad announced that Damietta has successfully used environmentally friendly electric powered cranes for handling operations.   The newly introduced system aims to curb harmful effects of using traditionally fueled systems and promote environment friendly techniques to minimize harmful emissions. Mobile electricity units supply the cranes with required electric power.   DPA chairman pointed out this is an important step towards transforming Damietta into a global standard green port. Damietta port joins community dialogue over the SMDC project
Rear Admiral. Walid Awad, DPA Chairman, participated in the community consultation session organized by the Suez Methanol Derivatives Company (SMDC) to present results of the environmental and social impact assessment study of the methanol derivatives project planned to be established in Damietta Port. The debate was attended by the Secretary General of the Governor of Damietta, Chairman of the Egyptian Petrochemical Holding Company, Chairman of the Board of Directors SMDC, and Damietta's representatives at the Parliament and the Senate. In his speech, Awad explained the importance of this community dialogue to enlighten the civil society in Damietta Governorate on the project as a significant addition to the national economy within the petrochemical manufacturing system. Damietta Port confirms Readiness to Receiving giant container ships
Due to its position as a preferred destination for giant container ships of the world's major shipping lines, DPA received the container ship (MILANO BRIDGE) hoisting a Panamanian flag and belongs to the shipping line (ONE) coming from the Saudi port of Jeddah .Milano Bridge's total length is 366 m, width 51.20 m ,a depth of 14.20 m, overall tonnage is about 150706 tons and maximum tonnage is about 14 thousand TEUs. The port also received the container ship (NEW YORK EXPRESS which hoists  the German flag and belongs to the German (Hapag-Lloyd) line coming from the Italian port of Genoa. South Korean liner shipping company HMM at Damietta Port
In culmination of the negotiations that took place between Kamel Al Wazir, Minister of Transport and the leaders of the South Korean liner shipping company HMM – formerly known as Hyundai Merchant Marine, on the sidelines of the fringes of the International Maritime Organization elections in London marking the entry of HMM ships to Egyptian ports for the first time. Rear Admiral /Walid Awad, Chairman of the Damietta Port Authority, stated that the port received HMM's HYUNDAI NEW YORK Containership on its first voyage to the Egyptian ports coming from the Italian port of Genoa.
