In an unprecedented move, Damietta Port Authority has joined the first of a series of online debates on maritime and shipping industry future after Covid 19 plague. Rear Admiral Waled Awad DPA chairman and a number of DPA key officials exchanged  their opinions and views with experts from China,Italy and France on how the global maritime future would react to Covid 19 impacts. New Damietta and Tatheer 4 join DPA’s Marine Services Fleet
To go ahead with updating its marine services fleet to better provide marine services in accordance with green ports requirements ,DPA has acquired two new marine units. Rear Admiral / Waled Awad, Chairman of DPA, hoisted the flags on the new pilot ship  (New Damietta) and anti-pollution boat (Tatheer 4), announcing the inclusion of the newly acquired united into DPA service fleet. New Damietta is 15.30 m long, 5.20 m wide and with a draft of  1.35 m. It is equipped with 2 motors , 400 hp capacity each, with a speed of 20 knots and a load capacity of 18 tons. Crew of the Chinese ship YANGZE 7 quarantined at Damietta Port
DAP decided to quarantine the crew of the Chinese ship YANGZE7 coming from Hong Kong  carrying 45000 tons of steel, as part of national efforts to prevent Corona Virus from entering Egypt. DPA and relevant authorities took security measures on the ship and dealt with its 21 crew members of Chinese and other south eastern nationalities, while wearing protective suits. DPA Chairman ordered prompt handling of the case. Necessary quarantine measures were taken at highest levels and  all crew members were tested and proved negative to Corona Virus. Internal Quality Auditing by Lloyd’s Register at Damietta Port Authority
Lloyds Register Authority (LR) has carried out an auditing  to ensure that DPA is complying with global quality standards and that the specifications of its quality certificates (ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015 and OHSAS 18001: 2007) are fully observed. Lloyd's Register Authority, is one of the largest global quality granting and supervisory bodies. Over a period of three days, all port activities were measured and  efficiency of departments in dealing with various situations tested. Rear Admiral/ Walid Awad, Chairman of DPA, clarified that the success of the Authority in passing the internal  quality auditing is due to continuous training , attention to the human element upgrading, efficiency of the infrastructure, and continuous calibration of equipment to maintain its efficiency.… More....

Marine Pollution Prevention Drill in Damietta Port
In continuation of the efforts exerted to raise the efficiency of the human element and to ensure the complete readiness of individuals and equipment to confront crises, DPA carried out practical training on marine pollution control, in a prototype scenario that the water surface is exposed to pollution. The training started with a communiqué to the Authority's Operations and Crisis Management Center, that an oil spill has occurred  on the water surface in front of the marine services berth. immediately, contacts made with relevant DPA departments and  the Environmental Affairs. Italian Port of Bari and Chamber of Commerce visit Damietta Port
Admiral / Walid Awad, DPA Chairman, received an Italian delegation from the Italian port of Bari, Italian Chamber of Commerce and a number of Italian logistics companies to discuss the possibility of cooperation in the field of supplying  ships with LNG and necessary infrastructure, In addition to knowing closely about the potentials of  LNG facilities working in the port of Damietta. The meeting was attended by representatives of the port community and a number of agencies and companies operating in the port.
