Damietta port occupies a distinguished place among Egyptian seaports, which made it one of the most important ports, not only in Egypt but also in the Mediterranean Sea.
Since its opening in 1986, Damietta Port has played an active role in serving Egyptian national economy, with a share of 20% of Egypt’s foreign seaborne trade.
Past years witnessed significant developments in port’s infrastructure and information structure. Notable investment projects emerged to herald a promising future for Damietta Port as a key logistics hub capable of competing with Mediterranean ports and an attracting point for more foreign and domestic investments.
It is worth mentioning that Damietta Port is considered one of the first Egyptian ports to be awarded the ISO 9001 Quality Management System in 2015 and the Occupational Safety and Health Management System ISO 45001:2018.
Damietta was the premier Egyptian port to obtain ISO Environment Management Systems Certificate 14001:2015 as the port is committed to the highest standards of international safety and security in all sectors and processes .Additionally, Damietta has shown compliance with the environmental protection standards as per the international conventions and recommendations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) .
From the first day I had the honor to assume the responsibility of chairing Port Authority, I endeavored to activate the port ‘s role within the framework of Egypt’s Ministry of Transport’s vision and mission.
We are working under the banner “Safe and Stable operations” which aims to enhance port competitiveness at the international level and achieve best performance of transport both economically and technically, while preserving the environment.
The Port Authority continues to facilitate private and foreign investments and works hard to ease whatever problems so that Damietta Port can serve the national economy more effectively and foster the growth of national resources.
